Aerospace Industry Experience
Aerospace Manufacturer
Since July 1990, GP's on-site staff has been providing extensive training and development support at a major aerospace manufacturing company, including:
- Course design and development
- Instruction
- Graphics support
- Task and/or process analysis
- Project management support
Course Design
Courses developed range from short safety awareness presentations to 40-hour, hands-on technical skill-building sessions. A detailed course design following an analysis effort ensures that courseware addresses the actual needs of the job and uses learning techniques.
Training and Development Assistance
GP assisted the training and development department for the manufacturing and assembly facility in the following areas:
- Analyzing and developing a training curriculum for the new company-wide standard software development process for three levels of software development
- Developing courseware to train software engineering personnel on process awareness in the application of the new standard software development methodology
- Revising of courseware and job aids as company continues to refine and update its standard development process to meet Department Of Defense and other client needs
Software Development Process
GP developers worked closely with company subject matter experts in all phases of the standard software development process, including:
- Job/task analysis
- Training program design
- Development of courseware materials/job aids
The development of a standard software development process resulted in a significant increase in interdepartmental communications.
Planner Curriculum Course Development
GP developed six courses for the Planner Curriculum supporting 300 employees based on a new-hire initiative identified by manufacturing engineering. The courseware consisted of the following:
- Planner Orientation (8-hour course)
- The QA Connection (4-hour course)
- Manufacturing Work Instructions (8-hour course)
- Configuration Control (8-hour course)
- Tooling Interface (8-hour course)
- Manufacturing Planner Simulation (24-hour course)
Interactive Performance Support Team
GP serves as the key instructional component of the Interactive Performance Support Team that utilizes computer-based technologies to measurably improve the skills and knowledge of the workforce.
GP converted 60 re-certification evaluations from proctor-based tests to a learner-controlled, computer-based testing system increasing scheduling flexibility and test accessibly, and eliminating "no shows" due to work priorities.
Other Projects
- Interactive multimedia ISO 9000 training
- On-line performance support for quality assurance reporting system
- Performance support tool for course developers
