College Accreditation

GP has partnered with Excelsior College to assign college credit for completion of GP's online power generation courses. After a comprehensive evaluation process, Excelsior College determined that a number of GP online courses met the college's criteria for college-level learning. Users who successfully complete the required GP courses and exams may apply credits toward an Excelsior College degree program.

Since leaving the Navy, I wanted to complete a degree, but the demands of working shift work and raising a family prevented me from attending a traditional college.

The partnership between General Physics and Excelsior allowed me to complete my degree while working rotating 12 hour shifts with limited impact to my family. The combination of credit from General Physics lessons and Navy courses met all of my technical course requirements, leaving only the general education courses to earn my degree. Excelsior's course structure allowed me to work when it was convenient for me, through night shifts and around outages and I could still interact with the instructor and other people in the class. In August of 2007 I received an A.S. degree from Excelsior College.
