Titan IV Launch - USAF Photo

Project Highlight

In August 2000, GP played an integral role in the successful test of a Titan IV solid rocket motor at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. The test lasted 140 seconds, generating 1.7 million pounds of thrust. The 11-story high, three-segment solid rocket booster weighed approximately 750,000 pounds. GP was the facility manager of the test area and was responsible for the reactivation effort. Specific tasks involved oversight of all critical operations, structural analysis of various facility structures including instrumentation tunnels, access roads, and test stand structures. GP also managed the area environmental compliance program. For more information about this project, including a QuickTime video of the test, see the mission report.
