If a catastrophic event happens in your city or state, available resources could be overrun and you may have to operate without communications, electricity, water, or outside help for an extended period of time. Even areas that do not face the direct impact of a disaster may be called upon to provide critical support to evacuees for an extended period with minimal outside assistance. GP can help you in the development of a catastrophic events plan to supplement the all-hazards plan.

Our Catastrophic Events Planning Experience

GP recently supported the implementation of catastrophic recovery plans for a major Gulf Coast community and facilitated the development of new recovery-focused Target Capabilities for the Department of Homeland Security. Other GP experience includes the following:

• Set up and managed the New Orleans emergency operations center (EOC) post-Katrina
• Provided EOC staff augmentation for New Orleans post-Katrina
• Provided public assistance staff to augment the City of New Orleans post-Katrina
• Provided planning support for the New Orleans Emergency Operations Plan to include catastrophic events
• Provided logistical support for post-Katrina operations and for 2006 hurricane season preparedness
• Provided preparedness training to the New Orleans public sector post-Katrina
• Reviewed the Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical (NBC) Plan and provided training for Northern Westchester Hospital Center, New York
