Training Program Components

Meeting the diverse training needs of the maintenance workforce is impossible to accomplish through one "canned solution". As illustrated here, the training needs of the maintenance workforce are multi-tiered. GP's extensive experience and qualified maintenance experts allow us to provide the correct training components for your maintenance personnel, regardless of the level of their needs.

Level 1	Core Competencies include knowledge and skills such as math, reading, print reading, hand and power tools, and mechanical and electrical theory.
Level 2	Craft Fundamentals include skills and knowledge in basic hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, PLC introduction, motors, etc. Much of this training can be delivered via self-study material. This training should be supplemented with hands-on training and structured OJTs.
Level 3	Advanced Craft Training can include topics on advanced hydraulics, PLC programming and troubleshooting, and advanced techniques associated with facility-specific equipment. Historically, the only cost-effective way to deliver this training was via an instructor with print-based materials; however, with the technology currently available, this training may be delivered via computer-based training (CBT) or distance learning. For maximum effectiveness, this training must be supplemented with hands-on training and structured OJTs.
Level 4	Equipment-Specific Training covers the particular operation and maintenance of equipment used at the facility. Training materials can be developed from vendor literature and prints and delivered by an instructor. Equipment walk-downs should supplement the classroom training coupled with detailed OJTs or supervisor-led hands-on training.
