Multi-Skilled Technician Programs
GP offers a complete maintenance training program designed for "cross-training" your craft and operations personnel. Many organizations are taking advantage of the ability of workers to perform multi-discipline tasks. This decreases the time to perform many jobs, resulting in significant cost savings.
Maintenance Management Courses
Only in recent history has the management of a maintenance organization been given the attention it deserves. The reality is that maintenance organizations have changed from simple repair facilities to actual business units responsible for the pro-active care of equipment assets.
Maintenance supervisors require skills in people management, maintenance management, and project management to effectively run a maintenance service business. Supervisors are often promoted from the ranks based on good technical performance. The necessary skills must often be learned through trial and error on the job. GP courses are designed to provide the skills required of a maintenance supervisor. Topics include team building, leadership, project management, planning & scheduling, autonomous maintenance, predictive maintenance, and 5S.
Customized Maintenance Training Programs
GP has the expertise to develop entire maintenance training programs customized to meet your needs. From job analysis through performance testing, GP has developed extensive training programs to assist many of our clients.
Performance Testing
Job performance evaluations can be used in conjunction with knowledge evaluations as screening devices when hiring new employees; as determinants of training that is needed (gap analysis); and for advancement, pay-for-skills, or certification testing. Additionally, a hands-on evaluation of the skills required to perform the job can - depending on the workforce diversity and culture - be seen as less threatening than written evaluations.
Accelerated Apprenticeship Training
Many maintenance departments are staffed with an aging workforce. As these craftspeople retire, the maintenance departments lose a wealth of institutional knowledge. In many cases, companies are in a position where apprentices cannot be trained fast enough under the current programs to replace these workers. GP works with your company to analyze your current program to accelerate the training while increasing its effectiveness.
Continuing Training
In this rapidly changing world, learning cannot stop when school is completed. An apprentice learns to become a journeyman, a journeyman learns to become a skilled craftsperson, and the skilled craftsperson is constantly learning new technology to stay at the top of his or her field.
Each year equipment technology becomes more sophisticated as plants increase automation. When was the last time your workforce was in formal training? 15, 20, 25 years ago? Continuing training updates the skills of your workforce. GP can help implement a continuing training program focused on the needs of your workers.
